This serial number is used to identify every laptop uniquely from each other. The serial number is very useful to get warranty information, brand, etc. Laptop serial numbers can be checked in different ways from the operating system (Windows, Linux) or physically or via BIOS.
Find Laptop Serial Number In Windows
Windows has different ways to display laptop serial number. But the most pratical and easy way is using the wmi command. The wmi command is used to get and set different operating system and hardware level configuration and information. The “wmi bios get serialnumber” is executed to list laptop serial number. First open the MS-DOS or command line interface. This command do not requires Administrative privileges.
Type the following command and press enter.
wmic bios get serialnumber
Find Laptop Serial Number From Laptop Case or Laptop Box
The serial key is imported for the Laptops and it is written into the Laptop Case or Laptop Box. Some important information about the Laptop is put into the under of the Laptop case. The serial number is generally described with “Serial Number” or “S/N” or “Serial No“. In the following example, we can see an HP Pavilion Laptop whose serial number is 4CE0460D0G and also written as a barcode number.
Find Laptop Serial Number From BIOS
The serial number is hardcoded into the Laptop where the BIOS can be also used to get its serial number. The serial number is displayed on different screens for different BIOS types and software. But as information, it is generally displayed in the main screen of BIOS or the information screen of the BIOS.
